About the studio

Silpa Art Studio

I teach the way I was taught: at the bench, through close observation and hands-on practice.

Silpa Art Studio is led by a Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate, practising artist and experienced Visual Arts Instructor. Since 2008, I have supported learners through school-based programs, private tuition, small-group workshops and online art classes.

For more than eighteen years, I have worked across oil painting, acrylic, watercolour, charcoal and pencil. Each class is an extension of my own studio practice, grounded in drawing, observation, colour, tone, composition and the quiet discipline of making.

Every lesson brings together practical technique, creative freedom and encouraging individual guidance. Classes are intentionally kept small because painting is a physical conversation. I can observe how you hold the brush, develop a drawing and make decisions on the canvas, while you can closely follow my process.

We work from life wherever possible, using models, still life arrangements and patient natural light. Rather than relying on shortcuts or tricks, you will develop a practical and lasting method, a stronger way of seeing, drawing and painting that you can carry into any subject or medium.

Classes are suitable for beginners, returning artists and students looking to strengthen their existing practice. Online and in-person classes are available. Please contact Silpa Art Studio to discuss the right class for you.
